Then there's metalcore bands like As I Lay Dying or All That Remains that have the look or normal metal bands, and should be considered straight up metal

Didn't Asking Alexandria come out and say they were going 'thrash metal'

They did like a Skidrow cover album or something.
I remember BMTH thinking they had invented post metal a year back.
Oli Sykes said in an interview;
'We've been listening to a lot of post rock recently and thought what if we made music like post rock but with metal'
