Well I agree he was a pop star but he wasnt the average pop star. Unlike most pop stars he wrote more than half his catalogue, played a few instruments, was experimental with his sound, singing, performances and music videos. He pushed that medium and performances so I disagree with you implying he was just like the average pop star. Most of the things that he did was not done before his time. So I dont understand your arguement.

Did you know that Michael wrote the entire bad album and co produced it as well? Michael also co produced a few songs on Thriller and Off The Wall as well as wrote some of the songs. Most of the songs Michael wrote and co produced himself were number one, top 10 hits. So you can not possibly give all the credit to Quincy. Not to mention Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad dont sound the same. After the Bad album Michael went on to have success without Quincy so I dont get this arguement either. This a typical arguement most people on this board make because they have something against "popular" music and it just shows that you havent bothered to listen to all his music before making a generalized assumption about his music. If a song is good then it is good why does it matter if its pop? MJ is a legend because me made good pop music that people related to and it made people come together among other things.

His music wasn't really very challenging, just catchy melodies and prominent choruses designed to be passively consumed so that it leaves plenty of room for people to be bamboozled by his weird personality and fancy dance moves.
I thought his Dangerous and HIStory albums had complex lyrics and dealt with complicated themes. Ironically he wrote and produced majority of those albums and Quincy was out of the picture then. I feel you should listen to more of his music besides his popular hits.

Being a good dancer has nothing to do with his music. Sometimes that takes away from his music but that doesnt mean he doesnt have experimental songs because he does.

If he wasn't such a strange **** I don't think he'd have this level of fandom.

Whats with the name calling?

This arguement is ridiculous because his level of fame during his Thriller days was the biggest peak by any pop star (I think) and then afterward he went on to become a big international star due to his talent/music. During his later years, I agree his personal life got more attention than his music but by that time he had become such a mega star previously for his talent so it didnt matter
