lots of people have multiple partners. it's kinda the way sh*t works these days. if the girl he's "porking" has stated flat out that she doesn't want to be with someone who is doing that though, it's a different story and Black Francis is an *sshole. gotta respect people, no matter how big your sex drive is.
as far as internet hookups, my mom met a dude on a literati (it's like scrabble) chat, and they've been together over ten years. i don't think the circumstances under which people meet should be a defining factor in the compatibility at all. anything is possible, and who the hell is anyone else to say such things are wrong or that they can't work? there's no rules. also, back when myspace was starting i met a girl on there. we talked for like 6 months and decided we should meet up based on our attraction toward each other. the first time we hung out we did a huge bag of mushrooms. just the two of us. from my own experience - no matter how spontaneous i think i am - a quarter of mushrooms between two people who have never met is probably not a good idea. we did date for awhile but called it off for several reasons. regardless, we're still very good friends who are there for each other when it's needed, which, when it comes to ending relationships - started online or not - is the best thing one could hope for. the internet is part of our lives. i think believing relationships of any kind which start there are meaningless or aimless or whatever is just ignorant and closed-minded. to think it may not be for you, cool. to say others shouldn't do it, nah.
