I agree it would help raise him to the status of a top guy, but let's be honest if they're unwilling to let him go over Cena clean or to beat Rock, he hasn't a prayer against Taker and that's why I find it to not engross me too much. At least with the Michaels matches given his career being on the line and even with HHH's tendency to bury others there was a genuine feeling that the streak may be coming to an end.
Their match at WM28, the moment where Michaels hit the Sweet Chin into HHH's Pedigree, I believed for a moment the streak was over.
I don't feel that element of wrestling psychology will be prevalent with Punk, I just don't believe he's a viable candidate to end the streak and don't see myself becoming too emotionally involved as a result.
Punk's never going to be on Cena's level as a face or a heel in terms of popularity, he's always going to be playing second fiddle, so until we get Cena/Taker, I don't feel like the streak's in jeopardy.
