Yeah, really. On the other hand, are there ever really going to be a best four years? There can't possibly be a set time in one's life to have the 'best years'. Looking back, being young was fun, and looking forward, being old seems fun. But neither of those things really exist. Not today.
Looking forward or back in time for happiness seems like a guarantee of never being happy. It also means that you're not happy now, which is all that really matters.
To answer the original question: No, not at all. Life is cool but death doesn't seem bad either.
