Well, a lot of that does stem from music forums and the internet in general. I find that when people have a chance to express their interests, it allows them to find something more with it and expand their horizons. The same could be said for art, and dancing, etc. It's always helpful to converse with people who share the same interests as you, because it allows for those people to learn more about what they've already found to love.
