You know, I've thought recently that the 80's sound was making a comeback...but it's clear now that it's actually the 60's that are. There have been some truly great psychedelic albums recorded recently. Tame Impala's Lonerism, Chris Cohen's Overgrown Path, Murals' On A Passing Cloud...even a lot of the shoegaze coming out has a very 60's tinge to it. Lonerism now, great album but with that and even Murals'
On a Passing Cloud (which I've only listened to once, seeming a bit too much like an Animal Collective clone) they are very clearly modern albums with 60s influence. The two mentioned above could easily be lost classics from the 60s. They don't have a revival sound, they sound quite authentic. Especially The Young Sinclairs.
