Was anyone else here a big fan of Oasis? Most people either love 'em or hate 'em. I'm pretty sure most people know at least a few of their more popular songs, but if nobody does I'll post the links to some. My favorites would have to be Live Forever (hence my avatar lol), Slide Away, Columbia, Listen Up... the list goes on.

Lately I've been listening to a lot of the 'great' classic rock bands and have been wondering where Oasis fits in with any kind of 'greatest bands of all time' lists. Critics in the UK seem to over-applaud them for bringing traditional rock n roll back to mainstream radio in the 90s, but critics in the US barely acknowledge them, and if they do, they usually say Oasis tried to copy the Beatles songwriting and really brought nothing new to rock music. I don't know where the middle ground is between these opinions, but when I listen to great bands like The Who or Pink Floyd (I dunno, those just came to mind), I always wonder where Oasis fits in with the consensus of what people think are the greatest rock bands.

I like to at least think their 1995 album (What's the Story) Morning Glory ranks right up there with some of the greatest rock albums ever. But then again, maybe all those summer days of high school driving around and singing 'Wonderwall' with my friends has left me a bit biased....

Fans? Haters? Opinons?
