Has reasoning in this thread gone completely out the window? It seems to just be people naming artists.
One artist who I'd put into the under-rated category is The Weeknd.
The guy kickstarted a one man revitalisation of r'n'b last year with three excellent records in his debut year.
In the span of 12 months, he made r'n'b relevant to me again, and alongside Frank Ocean is the only r'n'b artist I could give a sh!t about.
The guy's incredibly versatile and has probably the best voice in modern music.
Yet, few people on here talk about him in this vein, if at all.
We should be hailing him as the next big star, because he will be very soon.
Over-rated: Pg.Lost.
I'm sorry if some of you guys are going through your obligatory pretentious music fan descend into post-rock wankery, but this band are not as good as everyone crowing about them would have you believe.
I challenge any Pg.Lost fanboy to tell me what they've done that hasn't been done a million times before, a million times better by bands like *shels, GY!BE, 65daysofstatic or The Slowest Runner in The World.
Plus their name pisses me off, as it's too close to the excellent Pg.99.
