growing up? he's 35 years old.
He doesn't care about race but makes sure to identity with black people only.
Robbinsdale is a 20 minute drive from where i live. It's not exactly full of inspiring black youth (particularly not of the Muslim variety) but times have changed so i can't speak for back then.
As for the music, i find his exaggerated soulfulness- for reasons you can guess- particularly unnecessary.
I did like the champion ep though, he went hard on that. Back when his persona was new and
compelling like all these sappy rhymesayer guys
