I've been wondering about "crossover". There are a few bands like Suicidal Tendencies and DRI who legitimately "crossed over" from being punk bands to being metal bands, but describing a band like Nuclear Assault or Sacred Reich as crossover seems a bit absurd to me, since just about any thrash band has some punk influences, there's were just more obvious. The whole concept of calling something "crossover" just sorta sounds like it has more to do with meathead metal fans back in the day who were too ignorant of anything besides metal to realize that a band like Slayer were heavily influenced by punk, so when bands with more obvious punk influences come along, all of a sudden it's something that needs a name, like "crossover". Any thoughts, or am I off base?
