Another dream from a couple nights ago. I was brought to a meeting hall by some group (not a menacing group, but a sort of political group saying it was an “emergency”) while in a nightgown and my hair wet from a shower. When I arrived at the hall, there was a political rally was going on. I was brought through the audience to where my mother, sisters and various “blurry” relatives (not my children, though) were seated on the sidelines. My mother told me that “the mayor” had selected me to run as “lieutenant mayor” on his ticket. I told her I didn’t want to run as lieutenant mayor, why did he select me for this position when I have no experience, etc. I was panicked. My mother told me I had to appear onstage with the mayor momentarily, that I had to introduce him and couldn't back out now. I kept protesting that I was in my nightgown and my hair was wet, but my mother ignored this. She told me that my middle sister had brought a business suit I could wear, and that she had gone to fetch it. I went over to my eldest sister, who was reclining way back in her chair (almost about to fall backwards) and holding this telescopic lens toward me which she wouldn’t take it away from her face as she spoke to me. I forget my conversation with her, but it was along the same lines. Suddenly, I was dressed in the suit and looked up at the stage to see the mayor and a small group of people gathered with him under one of three alcoves. My mother told me that this group of people were comprised of “other lieutenant mayors” who were also running with the mayor. So I told my mother, then let one of the other lieutenant mayors serve because I don't want to. At this point, I experienced a sharp pain in my ear. The pain became more severe and before long I was on a stretcher, being carried out by EMTs with a doctor at my side and my mother running alongside the stretcher. The doctor injected a long needle into my ear, so long that it penetrated my brain and seemed to be taking fluid out of it. My mother, although running along with the stretcher, remained strangely calm for the circumstances and seemed to be more concerned with getting me back into my “lieutenant mayor” position (which would be uncharacteristic behavior for her in real life!). The doctor told her he needed to get the fluid out of my brain quickly before there was permanent damage. I could actually feel the needle go into my "brain" in the dream, and woke up at that point.
