Thanks for all of the recommendations, guys! I found out yesterday that I only need three instead of five, so here're my choices: The Handmaid's Tale, Oryx and Crake, and The Blind Assassin. Judging by how enthusiastic you guys are, it looks like I'm going to have some fun reading ahead of me.
