If we've come to accept the fact that there is eternity I don't see how we've also come to accept that this means everything will happen within that eternity. It could very well be true, but it couldn't it just as easily be the few sporadic instances within eternity that fill the void of stagnant existence?

Or is there some generally accepted scientific theory that I'mn't aware of that makes me seem a bit daft for thinking this way? I'm not too educated on science, so these are just an untrained minds thoughts.
I don't know if it's an actual scientific "thing", but there's always the Law of Averages that says that on a long enough timeline, anything that can happen will happen.
