Punk usually sticks to Fifth chord - like e.g. Johnny Ramone. Blues usually sticks to I, IV, V chords, most of which are 7th and if it's influences by Jazz, R&B or Funk it will have more jazzier chords it might have 9th & 11th.Country stick to 1-4-5 too and Folk usually use turn arounds, a mix of Major and minor chords. And Altetnative well they use different tricks like de-tunings or movable chords, or accidentals for dissonance. Jazz knows all the chords, Maj & min 6th/7th but I doubt if they use augemnted at all.

Trust me on this 99.999% of songs you hear do not contain Augmented chords. Only a few Beatles songs
Hmmm... well according to Wikipedia everyone from Chuck Berry to Wagner has used them so I'm probably going to continue to disbelieve your claim that only Beatles songs contain them.
