There's WAY too many for me to do a very accurate reading, but judging from the books I have near my computer and a couple of extended collections next to me, this is a fair estimate right now, although it's all classics for this line-up.
US: The Stooges, The MC5, Love, 13'th Floor Elevators, The Ramones (VERY close 6'th: The Cramps, 7'th Buddy Holly and The Crickets...see, I'm not good at choosing just 5!)
UK: The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, David Bowie - the Bowie/Ronson era, most of it with the Spiders From Mars (Despite solo billing, they were like a band), The Who, Motorhead (Close 6'th: The Jam, 7'th: The Kinks)
Starting a list of bands with multi-national team-ups or histories, there's three that seriously lead the list.
US/UK team up: The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Legendary US guitarist with a killer UK rhythm section.
US, but moved to UK: The Walker Brothers, with Scott staying in the UK
Canada/US team-up: Neil Young and Crazy Horse
That's for now.
