Funnily enough I don't really mind the cold very much, but I do remember seeing a picture of a lighthouse in Ohio by the lake which was completely covered in icicles to the extent that it looked like a scene in a fantasy movie...
The thing about the old "rotten English Weather" isn't even about the amount of rain (and being from Derbyshire I get more than everywhere else in England except Cumberland), but the fact that it's always dull and overcast, and even if it looks fine you have to pack plenty of waterproof clothing in the likely event of another downpour.
However to be slightly more optimistic, I remember reflecting whilst being drenched watching the Pageant that this must signal the end for that hosepipe ban hitting the London folk, which probably only effects one sixteenth of you anyway, but still...
