Thanks
Garrett, that`s an interesting clip !
Predictably, I guess, I prefer Fahey`s original, which is a bit longer and has fewer distractions going on; just his acoustic guitar and a sound effect (that JF apparently recorded in the field ) of a train rolling over a metal bridge. There are no car horns or talking, as on this tribute version, just the "click-clack" of the wheels and a "long lunar note", a kind of resonant hum from the singing bridge he discovered.
TBH, it`s not a particularly stand-out track - just a little curious, and with a beautiful title.
So far all the albums that people are mentioning come from Fahey`s early to middle years - your
Fare Forward Voyagers, from 1974, being one the latest,
Garrett. I wonder if anyone has dipped into his later work ? For instance, his 1997 album,
Womblife seems to be pretty controvertial among Faheyists. Internet descriptions include " dense....innovative....a mess....fascinatingly beautiful.... unlistenable..." Is anyone here brave enough to give it a listen ??
