Lake Mungo (2008)

A very interesting mockumentary that makes a focus on the grieving process after death. It can be a little slow because of its nature, but the production and acting make it feel very authentic which really helps exacerbate the creepiness of the film. It does pacing and atmosphere building quite well which is helped by the films soundtrack that is really dark and ambient. What sets it apart is the fact that this "haunting" isn't malicious and the way the family reacts to the death of a family member is unique from most ghost stories. The third act kind of falls apart and the mystery is lost, but it does all come together in a way that's not convoluted. If you find it on Netflix I would recommend catching it, it won't blow your mind but it's a neat little story.

7.5/10
