I think, and I've talked about this with friends before, that once a rapper gets rich and famous, they stop talking about what got them there. They talk about what they do with that money. I don't like that.

I think that's why Pac is still so relevant today. So many of his songs were about real situations that real people go through. They were depressing, but they were real.
I like this post a lot, because it really confirms a lot of my issues with rappers these days. If someone raps about, for example, how many minks died to make his gloves, we as ordinary people don't relate to it at all.
At this point is no longer becomes "poetry of the street" and down to earth, it becomes essentially rich people telling the poor how awesome they are and it's awful. People lose interest because it's depressing.
