Any record that has achieved greatness & recognition has cross genre appeal. You have to own or at least hear it even if you don't listen to that type of music. Nothing Alice In Chains have done does this.

Alice In Chains albums have 2 types of listeners.
People who listen to other dull stadium rock bands.
People who used to listen to dull stadium rock bands and bring it out once in a while for nostalgia purposes.

The only people who have bought Alice In Chains albums are people who want to listen to Alice in Chains and who would probably do so at some point anyway. Not one single person has ever bought an Alice In Chains album because of their greatness and impact on the world of music.
