His solo album,
War War War, might surprise as well. Stark, acoustic, unaccompanied, Country Joe sings an album of songs in which he set the poems of Robert W. Service to music. If you like songs that tell a story, or are interested in an eye-witness`s impressions of the First World War you should try this extraordinary album. Don`t expect anything psychedelic or electric to creep into the mix, though :-

After he finished the tune not a sound was made by the audience. Their jaws were hanging open at the power of it. For myself and my fellow Living Historians this is essential listening. Powerful stuff that conveys with the utmost clarity the horrors of war. Country Joe didn't really want to revisit this, but the demand was too great.
