I do as well, even if it makes no sense. No other animal I can think of of the top of my head is self conscious in the way we are. Is there a biological explanation for this out of interest?

It's because we are just used to clothes. We aren't used to seeing certain parts of other people and vice versa. It's not just clothes, too. I've had a goatee for about 7 years now, but every once in a while I shave it off to let my chin breath. Every time I do I feel like my chin is naked and everyone is staring at it.
Now, I don't know if this is true since I haven't bothered to look for any research done on this, but I do think animals feel embarrassed, too. I'm basing this purely off of my own pets...I've shaved my long haired cat before (because he was getting really hot and overheating in the Summer...not because I wanted to be a dick) and I swear he acted really embarrassed about it.
