The main character isn't meant to be able to speak English, English as a language didn't exist back then :P The line is possibly taken from the book, possibly adapted into a setting from the book, which isn't exactly written in Latin in the first place :P

It is a bugbear of mine regarding spoken language in pre English Language times which I alluded too. The Passion Of The Christ and Apocalypto both used language close to what was being spoken at the time so why can't these sort of films
