^^^ Enlightenment thinkers, with the notable exception of Rousseau (if I recall correctly), believed property was an inviolable right. Others, such as Smith, believed such Government intervention was harmful to economic growth.
I find these explanations a bit daft; however, the
issue of Rent Seeking is very real. The best example of this behavior, from recent events, was the bail out of the banks, particularly in the USA.

The tendency of lolbertarians to overstate Ron Paul's accomplishments is a real problem.
