This is another argument that really frosts my pumpkin.
So we repeal all the regulatory acts that prevent the nation from going over a cliff, the nation goes over a cliff, seeing as the institutions that pushed it over the cliff employ a lot of people the tax payers give you a bail out, they use that bailout to pay stupid people bonuses. Meanwhile, in Afghanistan we're fighting an intractable war, sending drones global, and maintain bases in Saudi Arabia, Germany, Korea, and Japan which only adds to the debt.
And our solution to eliminating the debt is not to tell the top 1% to pay the same rate I do, and that your parents and neighbors do, but to tell me, and your parents, and your neighbors that they won't get the same level of benefits they've been getting for years, expected to get for years, and will still pay the same rate for that we're going to cut those benefits.
Thats absolute madness. The working people in this country are its core, we're essentially working to create a new level of institutionalized slavery, where the folks at the top make the most, do the least, and contribute nothing while those working into their 70's get squat.
If you believe that, I don't know what I can do for you. I'm an old school Democrat in my soul. I'm not a member of the party, but I believe in the equality of opportunity. Right now, that doesn't exist in this country. To steal a line from Bill Mahr, America, right now, ranks 10th in the American dream.
