Best woods?
Equipment?
Etc.
Their is no best woods, only different woods. Their is no best equipment only different equipment. Whats high end and great for one is bad for another. Can you imagine Jimi Page playing a 335 through a twin reverb?

As far as normal woods mahogany is typically more midrangey (hence the use in humbucker gibsons) while alder/poplar/ash are much brighter (hence the use in more single coil fender style guitars.

In my opinion the biggest gauge on how the guitar will sound in the scale length. Their are so many favtors though its hard to say, while pickups are a big one the pots make one hell of a difference. The impudence of your volume and tone knobs and the style of taper will be huge in what sounds they let through to the amp.

What you should do is read about guitar setups.
