Same here.
Although I have to say on the flip side of that I've not heard one of his albums I didn't enjoy at least a handful of the songs on them.
Mind you I've not heard any of his early 80s material yet. I know it has a reputation of being pretty bad but some of it has yet to be released on CD even, so I'm guessing it must me.

I would say Shooting At The Moon would be the logical step as you have the two albums that surround it.
