Not really, most of my life I've haven't gotten to choose the subject matter of my essays. This year was no different, as we had 6 papers and only 2 of them were on topics of our choosing. Mastering cold writes, i.e. thinking critically about subjects you may not care for or even dislike, is far more tedious yet rewarding than just writing about what you like imo. Still, when I did get the opportunity to write about what I like I found myself writing more fluently because I had a knowledge base on my topics which allowed me to assemble my thoughts better.

What do you mean, not really? It's my personal opinion. I glean no enjoyment from writing about the development of the free market, I did it to attain a respectable grade, and yes, it challenged me. But did I find it satisfying? Not one f
