you can functionally mic an entire drumset with 57's, however i dont reccomend it. go beta for the kick drum and if you can most pencil condensors on the toms, but i love the sound of the 57 on the snare. my band recently self recorded our last cd at our studio. we used 57's for guitar cabinets, and used 57's on our floor and snare tracks. i think it came out really well. if you want to check out what they can do www.myspace.com/harbor567
