No way. They were not overrated. Ray, Robby and John were all great musicians. I admit, Jim gets too much credit, (but there aren't many rock frontmen that don't get too much credit) and his lyrics weren't that good. The other members get overshadowed by Jim, and it's wrong, but a true Doors fan appreciates the band as much, if not more than Jim. But I don't think Jims lyrics were that bad. I think he was a great singer with a powerful voice. Like Rip Taylor says in Waynes World, "He (Jim) appears to be a crooner in a rock band." I think that's a fairly accurate description. The band was highly unique and creative.
From the video he looks like Jim and his voice was great (despite the quality of the vid) It does always make me laugh/cringe not sure which, to see the members of the Doors in their 70s with a Jim not a day over 27!!!
