Why is it in my interest to have greater wealth equality? Is it in my interest because of a pragmatic economic impact, or because of some moral imperative? Should we only be concerned about wealth equality in a national context, or should the national context merely be the priority?

Indeed, the great recession is a bitch, but I fail to see why this means their proposed solutions are correct or even that they've correctly recognized the problem. Really, I've trouble seeing the connection between America's
GINI Coefficient (link) and our current economic woes.

Also, unless I'm missing something, the $300k figure deals with household income. For a single person the figure would be $150k.
