These are people who have been hit extremely hard by the recent economic recession, people who "are forced to choose between groceries and rent, and working long hours for little pay if we're working at all." (Source) If I understand them correctly, they resent the distribution of wealth in the United States, and how the Top 1% controls 42% of all financial wealth.(Source) They are unhappy with Wall Street's power and greed, as well as the eroding of the middle class.

Though the movement, and its goals, are not clearly defined, I think their ultimate goal is to achieve greater financial distribution equality in the United States. We are ranked #93 in the world for income equality (Source), just above Mexico and just below Iran and China-- surely a shocking data point for one of the most developed and prosperous nations in the world.

The bottom line is, if you are not part of the top 1% (those making about 380 grand per year), you should support this movement because it's in your best interest to fight for greater wealth equality in the United States.
