The 50s is an important era in R&R without a doubt, especially considering popularity.

You can even see a later influence on rock & roll from a much earlier artist Robert Johnson (1936 & '37). By Eric Clapton & other artist, Keith Richards was introduced to Robert Johnsons music by Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones.

Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac) style and technique closely resembles that of Robert Johnson.
