This week I'm going to cover Cory Gunz's Son of a Gun, Danny Brown's XXX, Consequence's Movies on Demand III and Jae Millz's Flood Category 5.
Son of a Gun
This mixtape starts off strong but then begins to slump in the middle. It's one of those mixtapes that has alot of tracks, he has about 25 tracks on it. When I'm listening to this tape by the time I get to the middle, I usually end up stopping it to play something else. Cory is definitely one of the select few from YMCM that is truly talented.
Here are a few of the stand outs from the beginning.
The flow on this track is amazing. I love when he drops verses like this. Some people don't care about speed when it comes to flow but the way that he delivers his lines just are acoustically pleasing to my ears.
Speed
The beat on this track sounds like something that the Wu would use.
This track is worth a listen for the beat alone.
Gunz Pop
This is the first track that really stood out to me and I find myself going back to listen to it randomly.
Outta My Mind
Bitch, I'm A Rock N Rolla
XXX

I just can't get behind Danny Brown. His voice annoys me and some of his tracks feel like he's just a Lil B clone with better lyrical skills from Detroit. Everyone is praising him lately because of his original sound and all of that bull**** but no. I don't care about that, if I have to listen to him spit then I have to at least find his voice tolerable and I don't. I forced myself to finish the mixtape even despite this. Near the end of the mixtape were a few songs that I found at least decent. It seems like his better tracks were saved for the middle and near the end. I could hear a distinct switch.
Movies on Demand III

When I finally got around to listening to this mixtape it was a pleasant welcome from the earlier two that I heard. This is a straight quality release and every track deserves praise but I'm going to showcase two specific tracks that I gravitated towards while listening to this. The production is also top notch as well. I need to find more Consequence.
These versions are a bit sped up but when you listen to it from the mixtape, they are nice laid back beats.
Life is For Feat. Mysonne
I've Been About
Flood Category 5

I went into this mixtape thinking that Jae Millz is crap because he's part of YMCM but he proved me wrong. For as much hate as Cash Money gets they do have some decent rappers that haven't gotten their time to shine just yet. Jae Millz's flow reminds me of Jim Jones and he sounds like he would fit nicely into Dipset. The two tracks that I'm going to showcase are more about who he has featured.
I love this track because it features Lorel and I have heard him featured on other tracks from different people but I don't know too much about her. I will have to do more research on her and find out what material she has out.
Doin' My Thing
Well here is a bonus about Lore'l appearently she's a smoking hot puerto rican mami. I have to agree with one of the youtube commenters that her flow does sound like Remy Ma but that's a good thing.
Trae the Truth shows him up on this track and that's probably my main reason for liking this track
