I don't think this thread is a knock on present British bands. Of course there is some good music being put out presently by Great Britain (it is the same thing with Sweden..the music scene here did not just die out after Abba and Roxette
)..but there was a time when there was a massive amount of really great music being put out in the 80's/90's from there..then it seemed to trickle down to a few...and hence bring back Britpop.
Bush recently put out a new single and is putting out an album in September. I don't know if it will be as good as "Sixteen Stone" but so far it doesn't sound so bad.
