Marty straight up is not as valuable as Heater, so I would have preferred some draft picks included to sweeten the pot - especially since we are perpetually depleted of top picks and prospects. The trade tells me that Wilson felt the $2.5mill in additional cap space was as important as adding a fast skater. I don't think this team is done, as there are few quality free agents left and we now have a little more flexibility. Unfortunately, not as much space as I would have preferred... I would have liked to see some picks our way, or more of a salary dump with Heater in order for us to make a bold run at Shea Weber or Drew Doughty. Probably a 1% chance LA lets Doughty slip our way, and depending on the offer maybe as low as 25% Weber was available for us- but I wanted to see some offers. Wilson has gotta have more trades in the wheelhouse, else I'm chalking this up as a net loss for us.
