Up until high school I thought I was autistic and that for some reason my parents weren't telling me. Then on a recent visit to my hometown I realized I developed this idea because from the time I was very young whenever my grandmother talked about or introduced me to someone she would always say "This is my artistic granddaughter." She has a really strong Pennsylvanian accent though so artistic sounds like ah-tistic. I lost many nights of sleep throughout my childhood puzzling over why my parents would keep it from me.
