I am really drawn to melody in my music. That's part of the reason why I enjoy melodic death metal, the guitar melodies coupled with the harsh vocals are a dynamic that defines that genre to me. Melodic metalcore to me brings a new dynamic to the table, clean vocals. Yes, there are clean vocals in newer In Flames stuff but there isn't as much emphasis as there is in say a Howard Jones or Phil Labonte song. That's not to say the mathcore-esque bands of the late 90's and early 00's aren't solid. I have recanted on what I said previously about Norma Jean, I may not love them, but I can respect what they do.

I am curious to learn more about legitimate hardcore however. You seemed to have a knowledge of it as demonstrated by your thread in the punk forum. I'm pretty ignorant of the genre but I do like what little Earth Crisis I have heard. If you could PM me some recommendations, it'd be much appreciated!
