Martyrs
I've been meaning to watch this film for a while and I finally saw it the other day. Wow, it was intense, horrifying and sad at the same time. The first part is very brutal and intense. It kicks you in the gut, slaps you around and doesn't let you breathe. It's what could be called a true body horror. The second part turns into something like metaphysical horror. It leaves you thinking long. Really good film. It balances between making you
feel (like every good horror should) and making you think (which elevates it beyond torture genre). It has some minor flaws in the second part before the end, but still, the underlying feeling of sadness made the strongest impact on me.
