Mainstream? I'd have thought we were talking about the most influential and popular music within hip-hop culture... not mainstream culture.

And even the "current four" I would say are way off, Kanye West and Eminem have gone way past their eras where they will have contributed towards the evolution of hip-hop, they're both now mainly producing pop music that has high levels of hip-hop influence. They will both be remembered for their early albums in the years to come.
50 Cent and Lil Wayne should probably never even be considered on a list of how hip-hop has evolved.
