Slayer was the first band that got me into Metal. I got "Divine Intervention" from a cut out cassette bin when it came out and listened to it on my walkman over and over in fear that if i played it on my stereo my step dd would flip out and make me take it back. Not my favorite album by them, but one that holds nostalgic memories for me.. i got all the other albums shortly after.

Also, "Show No Mercy" is a great early thrash metal album, kinda like "Kill em All" for example, where it retained much of the hardcore punk influence, since Trash evolved out of hardcore. I do not get the hate for the album. "Haunting the Chapel" is one of the best metal EP's as well, amazing stuff on that one as well. Personally I prefer those albums and "Hell Awaits" to much of their stuff that came after. "Reign in Blood" to me is not their best, it has "Angel of Death" and "Raining Blood", which are both essential songs.. but I find everything sandwiched in between to just not hold up to the bookend songs, feels kinda fillerish.

some of my favorites.

This song never seems to get much attention, but I think it is in the top 5 songs they ever did anyway.

Another one that people do not seem to talk about, but it is one of my favorites of theirs.

"Hell Awaits" is my personal favorite album by them, I know the band doesn't agree and say they find it not to great cause it was not produced well enough for them. But I think that is part of its greatness. Filthy and Raw sounding. I love this album.

Those would be 3 I would pust up here, of course they had other songs I like:

Skeletons of Society
Black Magic
Hell Awaits
Dead Skin Mask
Killing Fields

and many more.

Still one of my favorite metal bands, if not just for nostalgia sake.
