It's a worthless amalgamation of various trends, plated to the same boring loud-soft dynamic that made Nu Metal (among other genres) forgetable, repetitive, and annoying. That the bands have a veneer of novelty does not mean they are innovative; they've yet to contribute anything substantive to the broader genres from which they borrow aesthetics.

The 80s had **** rock. The 90s had nu-metal. The '00s had metalcore. This is the progression of degenerate pop music whose faux masculinity is a selling point for the target demographic. The genre seems to owe more to marketing than any sort of genuine artistic movement.

I mean, look at how metalcore fans on this board act; 'hiya guys, I want a band that sounds like (insert series of seemingly random acronyms), but without too much bree and lyrical themes like this and aesthetics like this..."

Truly, the most remarkable thing about this subgenre is how fast it collapsed on itself.
