Hip Hop Hurraa!



I'm not the biggest fan of hip hop but lately I've fallen in love with finnish artist Asa's music. Matti Salo, better known by his stage name Asa, is a Finnish hip hop artist. He released his debut album Punainen tiili in 2001 under the moniker Avain. Punainen Tiili is quite legendary album in Finnish hip hop. The debut differs from the later albums with it's more traditional hip hop and straightforward lyrics. The later albums have more metaphorical lyrics and the music is more unconventional with folk instruments and shamanistic gypsy beats.
Many of Asa's lyrics are political and have alot of social commentary.
Asa released his latest album Jou Jou in 23rd of february 2011 under the moniker Asa Masa.
