I know that sometimes remakes can be very successful and very good shows in their own right, and I know that sometimes a director or a writer will take a particularly old show or film and attempt to bring it into the modern day. These are often flawed, and you could argue that it is unnecessary, that's fine. I do however feel there is a challenge involved there though, artistically.
I think what I really dislike more than anything though, is when a show is made and becomes popular and almost the automatic response for foreign networks is to make their own version of it. Are we really so unable to embrace another culture that we can't just watch the original series, but rather we have to have a version remade for our own culture and our own audience?
