Don't be too hard on yourself, I'm sure you'll have a good time no matter what you decide to do. I take my nephew to the playground/park, he'll bring baseball and he always find some kids to play with there. His mom takes him to a lake to feed the swans; she says she can't afford much but she prefers something like that with him. As long as kids are out and about they're having a good time.
