Well, one thing about Cornell is that the man stuck to his craft, and while his solo work was, well.. crap, when he would play live with his backing band at solo shows, most of the songs they would be playing were (duh) Soundgarden tunes. And from what I've heard about his live performance, and from what I've seen on Youtube of the recent Soundgarden gigs, the man has stayed on top of his shit. See if you can find the video of them playing "Beyond the Wheel" last summer. It's fucking uncanny.

I admittedly also liked his cover of "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. If you haven't heard it, don't knock it before you try it.
