Probably should to be honest.
Spain are winners again btw, unbelievable dominance atm. The only thing they don't have is a young striker to take over from Villa. To be fair they don't even need one, but imagine if they did have one. You wouldn't rule them out of winning the World Cup next year either. |

As for the U21s U20s or any other of those tourneys I rarely pay them much attention anymore, once you pass that age yourself its plain depressing. |

I was at the Spain-Uruguay game on Tuesday, and it WAS AWESOME. I had my Spanish flag and everything. I am a huge fan of Spain...I had my first boyfriend, first alcoholic drink, and first football match there. So I consider it a kind of second home. Although I was supporting Turkey until they got kicked out.
As you know, we Americans don't have any football culture. Such a shame. Spanish football is so so so so fun though. |

Also what I came in the thread to post, what do people think about doping in football? Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell both tested positive for banned substances yesterday. Cycling is rife with it but we knew this anyway. I think it's pretty much nailed on, with what's at stake in the game, that it happens on a large scale in football. Fuentes' comments about the Spanish national team's World Cup win should have set alarm bells ringing. Since Fuentes went to jail and there was a court ruling over the blood bags Barcelona and Spain have appeared to go downhill rather rapidly - Barcelona lost by a record shattering margin in the CL Semi, Spain got eviscerated in the Confederations Cup by a team who you'd expect to be much worse than them on paper, makes me think maybe there is something to it. The fact that some Spanish court ordered the blood bags to be destroyed is a key factor too. Murray wasn't happy about it: Andy Murray blasts Spanish judge’s decision to destroy over 200 blood samples from Operation Puerto | The Sun |Sport|Tennis Quote:

Saying that, it won't just be Barça who are at it. It will be all clubs at the top level. Huge greed, huge rewards, no desire of the authorities to expose anyone. Chairmen aren't going to let rival clubs cheat them out of millions of pounds each year. They'll either get it exposed, or join in. And it isn't being exposed.
This greed among the top clubs means the only possible scenarios are all top clubs are clean or all top clubs dope. There can not be only one or 2 clubs doing it for this reason. It's either none, or all of the clubs at the top. Barça would probably be the best club to do this at if they were the only ones but still. Shit loads of money up for grabs + greedy owners/chairmen with no morals + a distinct lack of interest from footballs authorities in exposing any cheating = ? This is probably the real competition in football. Who succeeds the best at doping their players and getting match officials and the authorities on side. If the top clubs are all at it, then no player is going to speak out and ruin their career. A failed player would easily be discredited or destroyed if they spoke out, or easily bribed not to. Some players may not even be aware what the club doctors are giving them, if indeed young developing players are even involved. Maybe it only happens once they have something to lose. |
