Completely welcome! Thanks for giving it the time of day!

EDIT: Speak of the devil, lp6 leaked today. I might have to edit my guide to include it.

due to winters cold edge and in celebration of new material from Comus here is my in-depth introduction to Apocalyptic Folk.....although i feel that a few of these bands would just consider themselves "neofolk"

the term Apocalyptic Folk was first coined by David Tibet (Current 93) sometime in the mid 80s and apparently was originally meant to describe the type of people (folk) he was working with rather than a form of music (folk)...either way it was very fitting for both the style, mood, and people contributing.....

the music tends to lean towards both Aleister Crowley inspired lyrics of Thelemic magic and Gnosticism....as well as ideas of "Revolt Against the Modern World" and a return to a more "traditional" way of life

1. Death In June & Boyd Rice - Black Sun Rising
2. Belborn - Realm Of Light
3. Der Brandtaucher - Rome
4. Icarus - Changes
5. The Green Man - Baptism By Sea
6. Novemthree - A Mother's Wish
7. Of The Wand & Of The Moon - Lost In The Emptiness
8. Forseti - Erlkönig
9. Fire + Ice - Seekers Prayer
10. Waldteufel - Lichtkreuzweihe
11. In Gowan Ring - Dandelion Wine
12. Nebelung - Die Roder
13. Sorrow - Sleep Now Forever
14. Neither/Neither World - All That Is Dying
15. Ostara - The Only Solace
16. Michael Cashmore - Sleep England
17. Strength Through Joy - The Force Of Truth And Lies
18. October Falls - Marras II
19. Harvest rain - Most Northerly Midnight
20. Sonne Hagal - Vengeance
21. Scorpion Wind - The Path Of The Cross
22. Death In June - Runes And Men
23. Ainulindalë - A Memory In Song
24. Nature And Organization - Bloodstreamruns
25. Luftwaffe - The Dead Do Not Revolt

37. A Challenge Of Honour - The Raven
38. Darkwood - Prophecies

Part One
Part Two

This is a great compilation! I 'bolded' my favorites (from what I haven't listened to). I think I need to look into The Green Man first. That one made the strongest impression.

Does this fall under that tag?

If so I think I've heard quite a bit of it on some compilations like Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer.

EDIT: I didn't even see that you had him featured on your compilation. I don't read enough. Maybe I should start soon.

That looks like a great comp Pedestrian. I'm excited to listen, especially if they're like the Shins as bob said.

Yeah it's definitely an interesting genre. I knew of Musk Ox initially, and then found Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer through them. Then that led to Whom the Moon a Nightsong Sings.
