Electro, like most Electronic genres, originated in the 80s. Today's Electro may take influence from those times, but within the last year or two a wave of crazy youngins have stepped it up a notch. Some songs may sound like the mainstream Electro House sound, like Deadmau5, while other artists like Uppermost pump up the distortion and aggression just enough to break your speakers. They all come from different backgrounds. Some started out mainstream and decided to start experimenting and others have just began producing. There's a common link between them all though: distortion, heaviness, and a lot of of emphasis on insanely catchy melodies. Think of an amalgamation of Techno, Electro, House, and some extra added stuff and you kinda get the idea.. perhaps. Enjoy!

Defeat - BNDTS (Haezer Remix)
The Subs - Vomit in Style (VNNR Remix)
The Toxic Avenger - Rush Hour
Project Cyborg - Angerland 3000
Kamui - Electro Slut
She's Drunk - Complication
Sick Boy - Bang Your Head (Clockwork Remix)
Skrillex - My Name is Skrillex
Clouds - Bebas (Ado!'s Compliance Remix)
Uppermost - Take a Blow
Cheb'Five - A Squirtin' Orgasm
Aerotronic - Sex and Cigarettes
Cyberpunkers - OMG (Belzebass Remix)

Thanks for this. I haven't heard much of the first wave.

Awesome possum! I wasn't sure how it'd go over considering Electronica isn't too big on here and club oriented Electronica to an even lesser degree. I could probably count the fans on here with one hand. I know I am (of course), Kayleigh, wickedlk, and Dieselboy are too (but he left) so we're rare.

I downloaded the first of the Elvis Costello mixtapes, didn't really like it. "Man Out of Time" is a great song though.

I'll definitely be downloading that ska/rocksteady comp Satchmo. Looks great, and I love Desmond Dekker

The Beginner's Guide to CanwllCorfe's Taste

Hello MB friends. I know a lot of you keep thinking, "hey who the hell is that guy and what the hell does he listen to"? So I shall now divulge you. My earliest tastes were bound in club oriented Electronica, namely Trance. I enjoyed it's euphoric and atmospheric quality that really brought me out of the here and now and kind of made me feel like I somewhere else. That was pretty much perfect for me as I was largely discontent with this boring town and life that felt very structured; school on weekdays, dad's house on weekends. Stroud Mall on Saturday, Spaghetti dinner on Sunday.. and so on. Once I joined here I started getting involved with genres that were equally atmospheric like Post Rock. Sigur Rós was the first band that really showed me there was more to music than Trance.

Since then I've scoured blogspots for new and upcoming artists that tickle my fancy for whatever reason. I used to think I knew what I liked and why but not anymore. I've given up on rationalizing. I do know that I'm not big on most rock oriented genres for whatever it's worth. This Comp is dedicated to the things I've been listening to lately and can hopefully introduce people to new bands, new genres, and new sounds.

Lowercase Noises - A Rare Social Gathering-On The Porch
The Starlets - Radio Friendly
Chaz Knapp - Le Fait De Couler Du Navire
Windermere - Watch the Stars
